8:00 AM — 11:00 AM

Leader: Rebecca Marschall

Please join us on a walk at the Sepulveda Basin in the heart of the San Fernando Valley! The Sepulveda Basin in Encino/Van Nuys includes a number of different hotspots, and we will plan to cover the Wildlife Reserve lake and adjacent LA River, which should be noisy and bustling with newly arrived migrant and breeding birds. We can expect to see a variety of waterfowl and passerines, and hopefully some area specialities, such as Neotropic Cormorant, which has successfully bred at the lake in recent years, and Least Bell’s Vireo, which regularly nests along Haskell Creek in the Reserve.

This walk will be on relatively level but unpaved ground and we will cover approximately 2.5 miles. This trip will be limited to 20 participants.

All individuals under the age of 18 participating in a LAB sponsored event must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or an adult designated as responsible for their well-being including their safety, behavior, and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations during the course of the event, program, activity, etc.

Currently signup is limited to LAB members, who will receive an email with instructions for how to sign up.
