Birding 201 - Shorebird Identification with Dessi

Starts Wed, Aug 19, 2026

Are you ready to bring your birding to the next level? Join us for Birding 201: “Shorebird identification with Dessi” — an advanced birding class designed for experienced birders eager to master the shorebirds of Southern California. Our two online sessions on August 19 and 20 from 7:00–8:30 pm will provide you with the structure, knowledge, and tools to identify and appreciate shorebirds with confidence. Then, on Saturday, August 22nd, starting at 7:00 AM until 11 AM, we’ll embark on a field trip to apply your newfound skills in the field and explore the fascinating world of shorebirds. Participants are expected to attend both classes and the field trip.

To sign up, fill out the form below. Registration is $40 and you must be a LAB member. The class size is limited and there is no waiting list.

About your instructor Dessi Sieburth: Dessi recently graduated from Stanford University with a degree in biology. Dessi started birding at age 8.
